UNIT TRAINING PROGRAM

We’ve developed the ultimate Unit Training Program (UTP) using Tactical Athlete Training principles. This four-stage program is your roadmap to victory, focusing on consistency, conditioning, and resilience for every brutal challenge The Unit presents.

What to Expect

The Unit Training Program (UTP) is a rigorous, comprehensive training plan designed to prepare you physically and mentally for The Unit Challenge. Built on Tactical Athlete Training principles, the UTP mimics the demands faced in Special Operations environments. The high attrition rate highlights the programme’s difficulty, but with dedication and consistency, success is achievable.

Key FEATURES

How the UTP Works

The UTP is broken into four distinct stages, each designed to progressively enhance your fitness, endurance, and mental resilience.

Stage 1

1+ Weeks

The preparation phase to ease your body into a training rhythm. Focus on 5-6 low-intensity sessions per week, building a foundation without pushing too hard.

Stage 2

12 WEEKS

The base stage, where the groundwork for your strength and endurance is laid. Expect structured resistance and aerobic training to prepare for specific demands.

Stage 3

11 WEEKS

The specific phase, introducing battle runs, hill walks, and high-load exercises. Be ready for back-to-back hard days, conditioning your body for what lies ahead.

Stage 4

3 WEEKS

The taper phase. The goal is to eliminate fatigue and fine-tune your peak fitness, ensuring you’re ready to conquer The Unit Challenge at your best.

KEY TRAINING COMPONENTS

Essential for building strength and conditioning muscles to handle the extreme loads of The Unit Challenge. This includes a mix of bodyweight and gym-based exercises, with a focus on progression and tracking.
A combination of interval, speed, and tempo runs structured to build unrelenting stamina and muscular endurance. Running will be critical, and understanding your training zones from regular testing is key.
Low-intensity cardiovascular work to build mileage and condition your body without overtraining. Use a variety of exercises—cycling, rowing, and swimming—to minimise joint impact.
High-load, sustained efforts over tough terrain to simulate the challenge’s most demanding elements. Progressively increase weight and choose terrain similar to what you’ll face.
